Tiger Woods Optimism Sends Masters Ticket Pricing Skyward
Tiger Woods’ recent play is putting his loyal fans in an optimistic mood and the skyrocketing Masters ticket prices mirror that excitement.
The four-time winner at Augusta National (but none since 2005) appears healthy and ready to go–as are various ticket brokers loving the increased interest.
Amazingly, its only the second time Woods will play the Masters since 2013.
The Business Insider’s Tyler Lauletta has the details.
According to TicketIQ.com, the average price of a single-day ticket at Augusta this year is a whopping $2,948.42 on secondary markets. Compare that to $2,592.91 for last year’s Masters, and just the prospect of Tiger prowling the leaderboard in his Sunday red has effectively increased the price of entry by 20%.
Here is how the average price for a Masters ticket has fluctuated in recent years, with or without Tiger:
- 2018 — $2,948
- 2017 — $2,592 (did not play)
- 2016 — $2,176 (did not play)
- 2015 — $1,513 (played, T17th)
- 2014 — $1,056 (did not play)
- 2013 — $2,161 (played, T4th)
- 2012 — $1,337 (played, T40th)
I cannot imagine a more must-see-TV appointment than if Woods is in the hunt on the Sunday back-nine. In fact, what is the bigger story; Woods winning a fifth Green Jacket after 4 separate back surgeries or Jack Nicklaus winning his sixth jacket at age 46?
Plus, here’s a non-surprising trend for you…
Tiger Woods odds to win The Masters down to +1200. Lots of action came in on him at +1800, +1600 & +1400 last few days after his strong performance last weekend. Huge exposure already on him to win The Masters. Odds> https://t.co/hS9MGcPJ87
